Serino Moodley has been booked to ride Red Saxon in Saturday’s Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Durban July over 2200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
Trainer Joe Soma had originally engaged apprentice Rachel Venniker to ride the Grade 1 SA Classic winner which would have made her the first woman to ever take a ride in the R5-million showpiece.
However, a fall at Greyville in the final race on Monday put paid to her aspirations.
The incident occurred when her mount, Kileigh’s Fate, fly-jumped and she was dislodged.
Hitting her head on the rail at the gate, she suffered a concussion and has to be side-lined for at least 10 days.
