Elsewhere at the Berkshire track, Godolphin's Tomouh could appreciate the drop back to six furlongs (1200m) in the Fitzdares Sprint Series Fillies' Handicap, while Crystal Delight caught the eye when third on debut at Leicester and could take a huge step forward now in the Berry Gardens 50th Anniversary Restricted Novice Stakes.
It could be wise to stick with Melton Mowbray handler Laura Morgan as she sends four runners to Southwell. Morgan has saddled more winners at the Nottinghamshire track than any other course and can be on the scoresheet here with Percussion in the N&L Franklin Developments Ltd Handicap Chase.
The seven-year-old was an easy 15-length winner at this venue last month and having proven to be versatile in terms of both distance and ground, can handle both a 9lb rise and a return to three miles (4800m).
Clear The Runway was a 15-length scorer over fences for Morgan on the same card as Percussion last month and is another that has a fine chance of backing that effort up, reverting to the smaller obstacles in the N&L Franklin Developments Ltd Novices' Hurdle.
However, her My Portia may have to settle for a supporting role in the 28th And 29th May Antiques Fair Mares' Open Maiden National Hunt Flat Race as the bumper looks set to go to Nicky Henderson and his stable debutant Treyarnon Bay.
The filly was sent off favourite for her racecourse bow when trained by Joseph Tuite and following an encouraging performance to finish second, was snapped up by current connections. It would be no surprise to see the four-year-old open her account.
