Minnie can move it at Plumpton

April 2026

Moveit Like Minnie can handle an increased trip in the BetGoodwin Sussex Stayers' Handicap Hurdle at Plumpton on Sunday.

Trained by Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies to eight career successes, the nine-year-old was last seen winning a Wincanton event over 4000m in late March.

That victory was a seventh run of the season, with his earlier form including a third-placed run behind Joe Tizzard's classy hurdler Alexei.

The extended distance is a step into the unknown but after staying on last time the suggestion is that he will have the wherewithal and the intriguing booking of Nico de Boinville means he can pose a threat to all.

Shutfrontdoor can prevail in the Mansell McTaggart Mane Event Maiden Hurdle at the same track.

Gary and Josh Moore's five-year-old is a bumper winner who started her hurdling career over the winter.

Though a fall on debut at Fontwell was not the ideal introduction, she was the runner-up on her second attempt when running at Kempton in March.

The winner, Fergal O'Brien's Molten Sea, may have been well clear on that occasion but looks a smart recruit from the Flat stable of William Haggas.

At Stratford in the George Wood Years Of Service Mares' Maiden Hurdle it is Ben Pauling's Hornica who can come to the fore.

The mare has fared well on her two latest starts, contesting a pair of 3200m novice hurdles earlier in the year and hitting the frame both times.

At Ludlow most recently she was the 6-5 favourite and could only manage third place, but she did herself few favours when racing keenly and then losing a shoe.

She is improving, however, and with the benefit of Beau Morgan's 5lb claim can get off the mark.

In the Green 4 Motor Company 30th Anniversary Handicap Hurdle Anthony Honeyball's Juggernaut can overcome a top-weight allocation to get his head in front.

The seven-year-old is a consistent type who has come home in the money in all of his seven starts since last summer.

He has found a win hard to come by, so his mark has fluctuated only marginally and he lines up at Stratford off a seasonal low of 100.

After a spell over fences he is back over hurdles and steps markedly up in trip to 5200m, which is a first but is supported by a second-placed run over 4200m at this track in October. - Press Association
