Jack Milner: Jockey Anton Marcus could open and close Monday’s race meeting at Greyville where they race on the Polytrack.
It is not often one sees Marcus ride for Louis Goosen but that is the case in Race 1, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1000m. According to the statistics Marcus has only ridden four horses for Goosen over the last couple of seasons and although he has yet to ride a winner for him, three of those four have placed.
That could all change when Marcus gets aboard English Princess. This is not the strongest of fields and her last two races have produced decent enough results in far stronger company.
Anything close to a repeat of her penultimate run, when a 0.35-length third to Hawker Typhoon, will make her a stand-out bet in this field.
The pattern is lot different in Race 9 where he rides Morse for Garth Puller. Marcus and Puller go back a long way and the pair have had quite a lot of success.
Morse failed to win in Cape Town but he does have some decent form, and as long as he takes to the Polytrack, he will be hard to beat.
Jack Milner’s selections
