The Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery over 1200m headlines with the race comprising just eight runners. Of the eight carded, trainer Dean Smith has four runners, Alan Greeff has three and Kelly Mitchley just one runner – and that could well be the winner.
Marchland was an impressive winner on debut and had a couple of these rivals floundering in her wake. The Malmoos filly, with Muzi Yeni in the irons, romped home by 5.50 lengths over this course and distance.
On that day Marchland did attract some betting support at 8-1, but the Greeff-trained and Richard Fourie-ridden Daffodil Delight was sent off at 5-10 and could only trail home in 6th place, 8.75 lengths adrift of Marchland.
Daffodil Delight had won on debut at the end of January and it may be worth noting that Fourie will now ride a newcomer in the form of Canford Cliffs filly Chatterbox.
So, for the Pick 6 one could well take a chance and banker Marchland as if the unraced filly wins and the Mitchley filly finishes second, you will still be in as the first raced runner to place.
However, for the Jackpots it might be wise to add Chatterbox into the bet because the rules differ for that bet and only the winner counts.
