Life to go on for Binda

February 2021

Jack Milner: Blinkers seem to have done the trick for Life Goes on and Clinton Binda’s runner appears ready to get out of the maiden ranks at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday.

The three-year-old gelding is set to line up in Race 1, a Maiden Plate over 1100m on the Polytrack.

He has only raced five times and has had just one bad run and that was in his second start where he played up at the start.

Two runs back Binda decided to try his runner in blinkers and despite beaten 6.50 lengths into second that day, there can be no complaints. The race was won by Mike de Kock-trained Al Sakeet who then came out last week to easily defeat and potent field of sprinters.

Also last week, Binda brought Life Goes On to Greyville for his first run on the Polytrack. He finished second, beaten 1.70 lengths in a Maiden Plate over 1000m, but was reported to be hanging throughout, which made life tough for jockey Lyle Hewitson.

However, that was not only his debut race on the Polytrack but also the first around a turn. Hopefully the son of Querari will have benefited from that experience will be less of a handful for champion jockey Warren Kennedy this time around.

He will be going an extra 100m but that should not be too much of a concern. In a pretty average field Life Goes On should get punters off to a profitable start.

It could also be worth taking Swingers with Andre Nel’s charge, King Cyrus. The four-year-old Silvano gelding is lightly raced and might have his issues, but he does appear to run fairly well on the Polytrack.

He has raced four times on the surface for three places.
