Life can let loose at Salisbury

August 2024

Let Life Happen can put a disappointing seasonal reappearance behind her with victory in the British EBF Premier Fillies' Handicap at Salisbury on Thursday.

The Niarchos family homebred shaped with promise on each of her four outings last term, picking up the silver medal on her first three starts before deservedly striking gold at Kempton in mid-September.

Following a winter break, the daughter of Siyouni returned to make her handicap debut at Doncaster in the spring, but faltered in the rain-softened ground and was ultimately well beaten.

It has been almost four months since that below-par effort, so Let Life Happen has been given plenty of time to recover by Sir Michael Stoute and has also been dropped 2lb by the handicapper.

Racing on a quicker surface and with Ryan Moore in the saddle for a yard that has been among the winners in the last couple of weeks, it would be no surprise to see a much improved performance.

Flight is expected to open her account at the third time of asking in the Tattersalls £40,000 EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes.

Ollie Sangster is in double figures in terms of juvenile winners this year and while Flight has yet to get her head in front, she has looked like a winner-in-waiting, filling the runner-up spot on her debut at Newbury and again on her second start at Newmarket.

At Newbury she was second best behind Flaming Stone, who is now rated 94 having run well at Listed and Group Three level, while at Newmarket she was unfortunate to bump into the exciting Desert Flower, who has subsequently followed up and is prominent in ante-post lists for next year's 1000 Guineas.

The Racing League rolls into Windsor, where George Boughey's Placeholder can strike a blow for Team Ireland in the tote Placepot Leg 2 Racing League R23 Handicap.

The Masar filly made a successful start to her career at Newcastle in September, but disappointed under a penalty at the same track the following month.

However, she showed her true colours on her comeback at Wolverhampton three weeks ago, recovering from a slow start to win a shade comfortably and an opening mark of 77 could underestimate her potential.

Roger Varian's Warren Hill is the pick in the tote Placepot Leg 3 Racing League R24 Handicap.

Following a few months plying her trade on the all-weather, the daughter of American speedball No Nay Never looked to relish the return to a quick surface on turf when winning over this course and distance last month.

Given that was her first competitive start since February, Warren Hill should strip fitter for the run and a 4lb rise looks more than fair for a filly who could still have more to give.

Beverley punters should put their faith in the Richard Fahey-trained Stormy Impact in the curtain-raising EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes.

A half-sister to the stable's Royal Ascot winner The Ridler, Stormy Impact made late headway and was only narrowly denied on her debut at York in late July.

Being drawn 10 of 10 is not ideal for her second attempt, but she might have the class to overcome it.

Force And Valour can confirm debut promise by landing the IRE-Incentive, It Pays To Buy Irish Novice Stakes at Chelmsford, while John's Dragon must have a solid chance in the Bettingsites.Co.UK New Betting Sites Nursery at Chepstow. - Press Association
