Korus gets Plumpton approval

December 2024

Korus has solid claims in the Theo's Charm Memorial Novices' Hurdle at Plumpton on Monday for the Warren Greatrex yard.

Having shown some ability in bumpers, he made his hurdling debut at Huntingdon and if the winner had not been a 200-1 shot, you would have said it was a very promising effort.

The sixth home came out to finish second at Southwell last week, though, so the form may have some substance.

Korus was catching the outsider all the way to the line and in another stride or two would have won. He should be all the wiser for that first experience of obstacles and can make that count this time.

Neil Mulholland has enjoyed a good spell lately and Batwomen can win again in the Joos Solar Handicap Hurdle.

The six-year-old had finished second at Fontwell on her first run of the season, and while she was well-beaten there she stepped up markedly on that on her return to the same venue on her first run in handicap company.

That came off a mark of 103, she has been raised to 109 but on just her seventh lifetime run there should be more to come.

Hollygrove Cha Cha looks a very promising mare and should be well up to defying a penalty in the DragonBet Born From The Betting Ring Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Ffos Las.

Trained by Jamie Snowden, she won both her bumpers, at Stratford and then Hexham, when she scrambled home by a neck.

Making her debut over hurdles over an extended 4000m she won easily at Ludlow, showing plenty of pace in the process.

Snowden said in the aftermath he would probably drop her back down to 3200m again and the testing ground should not be a problem.

Rosscahill could not have been much more impressive on his hurdling debut and can follow up in the DragonBet Supporting Welsh Racecourses EBF "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle.

The five-year-old won over 4400m last time out and while he comes back slightly in trip, underfoot conditions will still make it a test of stamina.

He is owned by Sir Alex Ferguson, John Hales et al who also have Potters Charm with Nigel Twiston-Davies and this one looks another very promising recruit.

James Tate's Waiting For Love was a beaten favourite when she finished second on her debut but she atoned for that in the BetMGM: It's Showtime Restricted Novice Stakes at Wolverhampton.

Connections have had to be patient as she turns four in a few weeks and has only had the one run.

Nevertheless it was fairly promising and given her age she should improve greatly for it. - Press Association
