After gallops were held this past Wednesday at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, the decision was made to abandon both the mid-week meeting and the meeting scheduled for Saturday 20 July.
The track staff and jockeys felt that with 15-20mm forecast to fall on Thursday and Friday, it would not leave enough time for the track to recover. Unfortunately, we received 70mm over this period which has now cast major doubts over recovery for the track for the meeting on Monday 22July.
Therefore, a decision was taken to postpone this meeting to Wednesday, 24July.
This gives the track two extra days to recover under favourable circumstances according to the latest weather forecast.
The postponement to Wednesday now serves up a period of four race meetings over six days, including back-to-back racing across both Cape venues next week. Cape Racing are looking forward to hosting an action-packed end to the season.
