Kempton backers should be Dancingintherain

August 2024

Dancingintherain is expected to confirm her debut promise by striking gold in the card opener at Kempton on Tuesday.

It is a Maiden Fillies' Stakes over 1600m, restricted to juvenile fillies who have no more than three runs under the belt.

A daughter of Derby hero Masar, Saeed bin Suroor's youngster looked in need of the experience on her introduction here a month ago, missing the break before making late gains into third place.

She should have a better idea of what is required at the second attempt and looks sure to go close for Oisin Murphy and a yard that has been among the winners this month.

Murphy also has a strong chance in Race 3, a Restricted Novice Stakes for juveniles, with Big Sip just about setting the standard.

A narrowly beaten second at this venue on his debut in late June, Andrew Balding's youngster was a shade disappointing when only fifth as a hot favourite on his second start at Ascot.

The son of Cracksman may fare better now upped to 1600m in his bid to make it third time lucky.

James Fanshawe's course and distance winner See You Tonight is the pick in Race 7, a Class 5 Handicap over 1200m.

The three-year-old was doing her best work late on when scoring here in February, and while she failed to fire on her turf debut at Nottingham on her next appearance, there was definite encouragement to be taken from her fourth place on her first outing in handicap company at Lingfield last time out.

She has been eased 2lb in the ratings since and should go close despite the burden of top-weight.

Broadhaven Bay catches the eye in Race 1 at Brighton, a Nursery Handicap over 1100m.

The George Baker-trained juvenile was well held on his first couple of starts, but did fare a little better on his third attempt after being gelded.

With a rating of 88, long odds-on favourite Praetorian was entitled to win as comfortably as he did that day, but Broadhaven Bay showed up well for a long time before weakening into third position.

Baker's charge was always likely to fare better once entering the handicap arena and dropping back in trip off an opening mark of 55, he has plenty going for him.

There will be some long faces at Ed Bethell's yard if Intrusively is unable to make the most of having his sights lowered in Race 1 at Nottingham, a Restricted Maiden Stakes over 1200m.

The chestnut son of Territories has been on the podium in four of his five starts so far, but has yet to take top spot.

He ran a screamer as a 40-1 shot for the Group Two Richmond Stakes at Goodwood almost three weeks ago, admittedly picking off beaten rivals late to finish third.

There is an argument for saying he was flattered, but the handicapper was impressed enough to give him a lofty rating of 102 and it is hard to see where he goes next if he cannot win a race like this.

Evening all-weather fare comes from Wolverhampton, where Kinetic is difficult to oppose in Race 4, a Class 5 Handicap over 2400m.

Second as a hot favourite on her first start after joining James Owen at Yarmouth, the three-year-old went one better in emphatic style at Windsor, pulling 7.5-lengths clear of her rivals without being fully extended.

It is no surprise connections have decided to turn out quickly under a 6lb penalty and if she is in the same form, she should follow up. - Press Association
