Rosh Kedesh to lead the way

Despite not having run on the Polytrack, Rosh Kedesh stands out as the best bet on the card at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday.

Dean Kannemeyer’s charge lines up in Race 7, a MR 80 Handicap over 1400m, and will once again have Keagan de Melo in the irons.

Kannemeyer has a knack of knowing which of his runners will perform well on the Polytrack and in addition, Rosh Kedesh is a son of Vercingetorix and they seem to revel on the surface. The three-year-old colt has only raced four times, winning his maiden over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth in his second race.

He has only had one race since coming to KwaZulu-Natal and that was over 1400m on the Greyville turf track. There was some betting support on that occasion and he performed well enough, finishing a 1.60-length third behind Lord Wylie.

That run should have brought him on nicely and with the stable churning out winners and the advantage of No 1 draw, he will be hard to beat.

Trainer Michael Roberts has his yard in top form and he can be back in the winner’s enclosure when Imposing lines up in Race 3, a Conditional Graduation over 1700m.

While he is rated second best in terms of the weight conditions, that should not be a concern as the last time he contested a race on the Polytrack he put 2.70 lengths between himself and Gladatorian, who currently races off a merit rating of 110 while Imposing is currently on 96.

Rachel Venniker takes the ride and will take 1.5kg off his back.

Virginia Sweet is the best-weighted horse and while she has upped her game, she has yet to prove herself on the Polytrack.

Imposing looks worth a solid each-way bet and is one to include in Win and Place multiples.
