Kannemeyer to dazzle us on the poly

Over the years trainer Dean Kannemeyer has shown an uncanny ability to predict which of his horses will perform well on the Polytrack.

With the victory of Green With Envy in the Grade 2 World Sports Betting Guineas at Hollywoodbets Greyville last week, the stable is on a high and they can notch up another couple of wins at the same course on Wednesday when they race on the Polytrack.

He sends out Mc Dazzler in Race 2, a competitive Maiden Plate over 1400m, and once again Kannemeyer’s proved correct when he sent out this Rafeef colt to contest a race on the Polytrack on debut in the province.

He had run two moderate races on the turf in Cape Town but showed vast improvement when a fast-finishing one-length second behind Gorgeous Dude over 1400m on the Polytrack.

He has gone from having a wide No 8 gate to a much better position in stall No 4 and even though he meets a few hard-knocking runners, that first experience on the course will have brought him on and he looks to be the best bet on what is quite a tricky card.

Craig Zackey will be back in the irons for this race.

The stable also appears to have a winning opportunity in Race 1 with first-timer Gimmie’s Countess, a full sister to brilliant sprinter Gimme A Prince, so keep an eye on the betting.

An interesting runner from the yard though is Pas De Nom in Race 5, a MR 90 Handicap over 1600m.

His last win was over Future Swing, winner of the recent Grade 2 WSB 1900, but after that he went off form. However, his merit rating has dropped 11 points (5.5kg) and if he takes to the surface he could be hard to beat from No 1 draw.
