HOT DANCER CAN MAKE WINNING MOVE AT NOTTINGHAM

October 2024

By Anita Chambers, PA

Hot Dancer can strike gold at the third attempt in the British EBF Future Stayers Oath Novice Stakes at Nottingham.

Trained by Charlie Johnston, this Too Darn Hot colt has shown plenty of promise in his first two starts, beaten three-quarters of a length when second at Chester on his racecourse bow.

He again filled the runner-up spot on his second start, going down by just under three lengths to a horse with a Group One engagement before the end of the year.

That second defeat came over a mile, so Hot Dancer is certain to get the trip and easy conditions may be no impediment.

Pique’ is on a frustrating run of second places coming into the Book Your Christmas Party At Nottingham Racecourse Fillies’ Handicap.

She has found one too good on each of her last four outings, most recently going down by a neck to the smart-looking Overture at Yarmouth last month.

Her consistency has not gone unnoticed by the handicapper, with her last winning mark of 69 back in May now building to a rating of 80.

However, Pique’ has kept finding a bit more with each rise and given her only win to date came on good to soft ground, the going may be in her favour.

Native Souvenir is another proven with cut underfoot having won on heavy going at Ffos Las on debut.

Sent to Kempton for an all-weather test subsequently, she could not defy a 7lb winner’s penalty in a novice heat, although she was not disgraced in third place.

Back on turf for the Join Us Next Week 16th October Handicap, a starting mark of 78 looks workable in this sphere.

Double Rush is the choice in the Fireworks Tickets On Sale Now EBF Novice Stakes.

He has run into a couple of decent horses on his first two starts, with subsequent winner Midnight Thunder far too good first time out and Defence Minister proving a tough nut to crack when fourth on his second outing.

Given the winner was thought good enough to try his hand in the Middle Park Stakes, that second Haydock run looks decent form and Double Rush might not have to improve too much to get his head in front here.

Hat Toss can gain compensation for an unlucky Sandown defeat when he goes again at Kempton.

He was beaten just half a length in Esher after being hampered and carried left at the start, conceding plenty of ground, which surely proved crucial given the relatively narrow margin of defeat.

Racing off a 1lb higher mark in the Ted Palmer Memorial Handicap, Hat Toss can regain the winning thread.

Lady Kluck starts her career under rules in the Racing TV Open National Hunt Flat Race at Ludlow.

She was a point-to-point winner in May before changing hands for £75,000 and can pay back a small chunk of that with victory on debut for Dan Skelton.
