Honey Land a sweet bet on the Poly

Trainer Glen Kotzen must be quite pleased with his two-year-old crop, especially after they walked off with both Grade 2 races on Durban July day.

He looks to have another with a whopping winning chance at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday when he sends out Honey Land in Race 3, a Maiden Juvenile Plate for fillies and mares over 1200m on the Polytrack.

Kotzen was quite content to allow the daughter of Duke Of Marmalade to make her debut in the R135,000 KwaZulu-Natal Breeders Juvenile Plate for fillies over this course and distance last month where she took on some decent winners.

Ridden by Muzi Yeni and going off at 10-1, Honey Land lost two lengths at the start and still managed to finish fourth, just three-lengths behind unbeaten Russian Doll.

One winner has already come from that form line and that is Sean Tarry-trained Magic Inspiration who finished eighth another 3.15 lengths behind Honey Land.

Kotzen has engaged Richard Fourie for the ride this time and they perfectly drawn at No 3. So, with that experience under her belt and a drop in class, Honey Land has to be a banker in all bets.
