Heathcliff can collect at Kempton

January 2026

Heathcliff can make the most of a return to 1400m in the Try Unibet's New Smartview Racecards Handicap at Kempton on Wednesday.

James Fanshawe's charge has three wins over that course and distance to his credit but has been sent over 1200m at the Sunbury venue the last twice, placing on both occasions, albeit seeming to lack that required extra bit of toe in the final strides.

Nevertheless, those two runs demonstrated a mark of 91 is within his compass and he has been holding his own at this level, so another good run is expected.

Filly Foden has her first start for Rod Millman in the Try Unibet's Supportboosts Handicap after just failing to give Alice Haynes a farewell winner last month.

She did not manage to get her head in front in 13 starts for Haynes last term, but the three-year-old came close on a few occasions, finishing second five times and third three times during what was a busy campaign which kicked off in April.

Filly Foden started with a mark of 68 and now sits on 62 having bounced around that kind of rating, and it is does not look beyond her on just her second try at 1200m.

Up The Anti was a 50-1 winner last time out and is sure to be a fraction of those odds as she tries to double up in the Bet £20 Get £20 With Unibet Handicap.

Her price at Kempton that was something of a gift given she had won her penultimate start, although in fairness a subsequent last at Southwell had seemingly drained any kind of confidence from punters.

A strong pace played in her favour as she put her proven 1600m stamina to good use to win over a 1200m trip and this 1400m clearly holds no fears, with the assistance of champion jockey Oisin Murphy in the saddle a positive.

Space Invasion would not need to improve too much to win the Bet £10 Get £40 With BetMGM Maiden Stakes at Lingfield.

Richard Hannon's runner was disappointing when only sixth on debut but took another leap forward when second at the second attempt, beaten just over 3 lengths over 1400m.

Space Invasion moves up to 1600m now and as his sire is Space Blues, there is plenty to suggest the distance will suit.

Sanditon has dropped back to something like a winnable mark ahead of the Best Odds Guaranteed At BetMGM Handicap.

The four-year-old has yet to win in 11 starts but he has run well off this perch of 58 before, most recently when beaten 0.5-lengths in third at the weekend.

Backing up quickly may not be ideal, but Charlie Johnston clearly thinks this is too good an opportunity to miss.

Woodhay Whisper can defy top-weight in the Join The Midnite Movement Handicap.

Victorious at Wolverhampton in November, he has placed in four subsequent runs and takes a dip in class for this. - Press Association
