Jack Milner
Alan Greeff is having the greatest season of his career. He has some top horses and he is not only winning races at Fairview, but all around the country.
His two-year-old fillies are arguably the best in the country around as we have seen with unbeaten five-time winner Anotherdanceforme, winner of the Grade 2 Golden Slipper at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday, Direct Hit, an unbeaten four-time winner who captured the Grade 3 Western Cape Nursery and the Grade 1 Allan Robertson Championship at HWB Scottsville, and Golden Palm, a three-time winner who came up to Turffontein to win the Grade 2 SA Fillies Nursery.
Remarkably, Greeff is sitting in second spot on the National Trainers’ Log with only Justin Snaith ahead of him.
And the run does not end there. Greeff has two runners entered for Champions Day at Greyville on Sunday 27 July – Golden Palm in the Grade 1 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes and Bournemouth in the Grade 3 World Pool Gold Cup over 3200m.
Bournemouth will be in action at Fairview on Friday where he will contest Race 6, the Port Elizabeth Gold Cup over 3200m, and he looks hard to beat.
He has won his last three races and at the weights there does not appear any runner who can turn their defeats by the Canford Cliffs gelding.
He is the best weighted runner by at least 2.5kg and will have champion jockey Richard Fourie in the irons.
The other feature comes up in Race 7, the East Cape Paddock Stakes (Listed) over 1600m, where Greeff sends out multiple runners, there are also a number of trainers from the Western Cape looking for Black-Type and they could be the ones to follow.
Time For Love, who represents the Harold Crawford and Michelle Rix yard, has run at this course and was game in defeat when finishing second on this track in August. She can go one better.
Gimmethatpearl, representing trainer Justin Snaith, does not always produce her best form but is capable of winning.
Fun Zone, from the Candice Bass-Robinson yard, is consistent, and from a good draw should be right there at the finish.
Trainer Glen Kotzen sends out two runners. Royals has been disappointing of late but does have the ability, while stable companion Greenlitealltheway showed what she is capable of with an impressive win last time out.
Greeff is represented by five runners in this race – Luna Halo, Lady Silvano, Zinikele, Call To Glory, and Splicethemainbrace.
Stable jockey Richard Fourie has opted to ride Luna Halo, with whom he has a good record and that could be the pick of his quintet.
