Gqeberha-based trainer Alan Greeff on Saturday scored his first July Day winner when Anotherdanceforme won the Grade 2 SplashOut Golden Slipper over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

Despite a slow start, the daughter of Masterofmyfate produced a superb run down the centre of the track under Richard Fourie to beat Quickstepgal by 1.40 lengths with Limitless Sky in third and Green Diamond in 4th.

In a career spanning 30 years, two-year-old Anotherdanceforme gave Greeff the first opportunity to step onto the winners' podium on South Africa's greatest race day.

Unfortunately he did not get the chance to receive his trophy in front of a crowd of thousands and a live television audience of millions as there was an objection by the runner-up, Quickestepgal trained by Tienie Prinsloo, due to an objection.

The objection was, however, overruled and the objection deposit forfeited.

The winning margin was 1.40-lengths.

With the Golden Slipper win, Anotherdanceforme maintained her unbeaten record - now with five wins from five runs.

Although Greeff's other runner on the day, My Best Shot, did not run into the money in the July, finishing ninth of 18, it was still a very good day for Greeff and he returns to Gqeberha a hero.

According to Greeff, Anotherdanceforme will now be given a proper rest after her five wins this season.

"She deserves to have a break" said Greeff after the race. "She has done enough."

It also remains to be seen whether she will continue her career in the Eastern Cape.

"That is entirely up to owners," said Greeff. "I think we have proven that we can pick the right races for the horses and then travel with them very successfully."

Greeff proved once again that he might have some of the best two-year-olds in the country.

This season Greeff won the Grade 1 Allan Robertson at Scottsville and the Grade 3 SplashOut Cape Of Good Hope Nursery at Kenilworth, both with Direct Hit, and the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Nursery at Turffontein with Golden Palm.

And now Anotherdanceforme has added her name to Greeff's list of raiding feature-winning juvenile fillies.

"It has been a really good day, said Greeff after the running of the July.
