Get off to a hot start at Scottsville

I Like It Hot was the rage to win her last start and went off a hot favourite. So, when she could only manage fourth place it left a bitter taste in the mouths of her followers.

On Sunday at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, punters will have the opportunity to recoup their losses in Race 1, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1000m because based on ratings she should be hard to beat. The change of course could also suit Dennis Drier's charge because looking at how she has run on the turning Greyville course where she was a reluctant leader, she gives the impression she will be a better performer up the straight.

A set of blinkers could settle her nerves but most importantly she is rated 78 while the next best horse, Namibroos, is rated 57 by the handicapper. Follow the betting moves on the first-timers but suggest a solid win bet on I Like It Hot.

Coupling I Like It Hot with Mike de Kock-trained Arividicio in Race 2 will be a popular multiple and for good reason. Arividicio was also expected to win his last start after some promising performances against strong Highveld competition. But he was hampered at the jump and over 1000m and a bad start is the kiss of death at Greyville.

Pundits would have noticed his powerful movement shortly after turning for home and likely licking their lips now that he has been set a task over the more suitable 1200m distance.

Granted, Tartarus did finish ahead of him last time, and it won’t be a sign of madness were that horse to vie for favouritism, but he had race fitness on his side while Arividicio was racing after quite a lengthy break and had the widest gate.

Incidentally, Arividicio is best rated at a merit rating of 90 while Tartarus is next best at 82.
