When the regulars arrived at Fairview on Friday they were greeted by the delightful sight of ten kids from the Kinderplay Academy, dressed immaculately for the occasion, who were ready to enjoy a day at the races.
None of them were at a race track before and they thoroughly enjoyed their day.
One of the short, smart gentlemen even claimed he will return to the Fairview as a jockey in the near future.
The Kinderplay Academy based in Mill Park, Gqeberha, is a foundation phase preschool which focuses on sports development and play based learning.
Staff of the school who joined the kids at Fairview explained they incorporate things like occupational therapy to enhance the chances of their little athletes to be school ready.
“We put the foundation down for your next Siya Kolisi or Eben Etzebeth. We try to make sure they are ready to be picked in sports teams when they go to school.
“The Fairview visit is one of our learning excursions for the kids. They saw racehorses from close-up and learned about them today.”
The Academy is privately-owned but is looking for a corporate sponsor to help them going forward.
They can be contacted on email at info@kinderplayacademy.co.za
