Jack Milner
While Richard Fourie rode three winners at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday, only one of them was for trainer Justin Snaith.
The log-leading trainer would have come away from that meeting a little disappointed with the stable’s single winner on the day and that came in Race 1 with Rapidash.
Snaith looks to have a virtually unassailable lead in the race for Champion Trainer and going into the final two months of the season his runners have earned almost double the stake money of second-placed Sean Tarry.
However, while there are no feature races at Hollywood Kenilworth on Sunday, the Snaith-Fourie combination could pick up some winners on the nine-race card.
The best of theirs looks to be Snow Pilot in Race 5, an Open Maiden over 1400m.
Unfortunately, he has not landed the best of draws, which could be a concern over this distance. This is only his fourth run, having finished fourth on debut followed by two close thirds in which he was beaten less than a length. Those runs were over shorter and this beautifully bred son of Lancaster Bomber out of Snowdance should be ideally suited to the extra distance.
He does have the gate speed to overcome the draw and although still a juvnile, he certainly has the most room for improvement in this line-up.
As a two-year-old he does not have an official merit rating but the handicappers do keep unofficial ratings and Snow Pilot’s is 86, which is higher than any other runner in the field.
