Jack Milner: There appear to be some promising bets for punters on the card at Kenilworth on Tuesday, and they will be in the hands of top jockeys Richard Fourie and Grant van Niekerk.
Kwinta’s Light looks the standout bet on the card as she was far from disgraced when contesting the Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes over 1000m on Cape Met day.
The Justin Snaith-trained filly went into that race as a maiden, having filled the runners-up berth in her first two starts under Fourie, before taking on male rivals in that feature when ridden by Robert Khathi.
Kwinta’s Light was reported to have been “restless” prior to the running but she was up with the pace for more than half the journey before fading slightly at the end to finish a six-length fifth behind Ambiorix.
All of her previous starts were over 1000m but in Race 2, a Maiden Juvenile Plate for fillies, will be run over 1200m.
Van Niekerk will be aboard Happy Aristocrat in Race 4, a Maiden Plate over 1400m. This Duke Of Marmalade gelding has finished third in three of his four starts, including his last two when fitted with blinkers. He sports the headgear again looks another banker for all the exotics.
Fourie also rides Ravensthorpe in Race 1. Last time he finished fifth behind Masked Vigilante, who has won again since. Ravensthorpe would have come on for that run and Snaith’s charge should be wiser to the task this time.
Van Niekerk takes the ride on His Choice in Race 3, a MR 90 Handicap over 1200m, for Andre Nel. He completed a hat-track of wins last time but on a line through Real Gone Kid, will battle to beat Irish Morning.
The Swinger looks a good bet.
Race 1: 10 Ravensthorpe, 1 All Swagger, 2 Another Thief, 3 Green Vigilante
