Fourie, Greeff set to take first place at Fairview

Trainer Alan Greeff and jockey Richard Fourie are a formidable duo in the Eastern Cape and it could pay to follow the pair on Tuesday when eight races will be contested on the Fairview Polytrack.

In fact, it would not come as a surprise should Fourie reward followers with a straight-line Place Accumulator.

He has eight rides for Greeff and it is more than possible for Fourie to finish in the top three in every race. He is also expected to win his fair share.

In Race 2, the opening leg of the Place Accumulator, Fourie will be aboard Little Lexi, who makes her local debut after 12 outings in the Western Cape.

Greeff has opted to give Fourie the ride despite the jockey being 1kg over the 53kg Little Lexi is supposed to shoulder. The main opposition looks to be Sheets And Goggles, a Cape Town raider from Candice Bass-Robinson’s yard, but she has to shoulder a hefty 61kg.

In Race 4, Fourie will be aboard Chili Bomb, another runner making his Fairview debut. His last two runs were both over 1600m on the Greyville Polytrack, so he knows the surface. Dropping down to 1200m and fitted with a tongue tie for the first time could do the trick for this Lancaster Bomber gelding.

You Win Again, who lines up in Race 7, has an excellent record on the Polytrack, with three wins and two runner-up finishes from five attempts. Jumping from gate 4 in this 1200m contest, this daughter of Twice Over looks hard to oppose.

Coastal Path may not be the favourite to win the lucky last, but he is bound to give a good account of himself in his attempt to complete a hat-trick.

He has been done no favours with the draw, jumping from gate 11, but a wide draw (gate 10) did not spoil his chances in his penultimate over the same course and distance.

He does come off a break, but there will be no questions about his fitness Greeff does not send out runners who are not in good nick.
