Formagear, Cape Eagle to fight it out

Hopefully it will be third time lucky for the Michael Roberts Stakes (Non-Black Type) over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.

The race has twice had to be postponed due to inclement weather and it has been added to this card.

This could be a big week for former 11-time champion jockey Roberts who not only has the race named in his honour on Sunday’s card but will have See It Again lining up next Saturday in the Grade 1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.

Today’s race appears to be a two-horse affair between Formagear and Cape Eagle. Both do well at the course, but the slight preference is for Peter Muscutt-trained Formagear who is chasing a hat-trick of wins.

He tries this distance for the first time but on his style of running, he should relish the additional 150m and give S’manga Khumalo another winner.
