Jack Milner: Jockey arrangements may point bettors to a 10-1 value bet at Fairview on Friday.
Trainer Sharon Kotzen saddles two runners in Race 6, a MR 66 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1600m on the turf track – Run Florist Run and Silver Fountain.
Kotzen tends to use Louis Mxothwa on her runners and in the past, he has been the jockey on both of those runners. However, Mxothwa will be riding Run Forest Run while Ryan Munger will be aboard Silver Fountain.
The latter has some decent form of late but in her only run over 1600m, she ran unplaced. Her one win was over 1400m on the turf, but against a very weak field from which none of nine runners has gone on to win. In fact, runner-up Forries On Friday has been costly to follow and five runs later remain a maiden.
On the other hand, Run Florist Run had some good runs as a juvenile on turf and was even considered good enough to contes a juvenile feature. She won her maiden over 1600m on the Polytrack and after three more runs, was given a rest.
She returned from a rest on 28 December and Lyle Hewitson rode her. She found betting support from 10-1 into 6-1 but unfortunately kicked the back of the gate and never got into the race.
She now takes a drop in class and trip but is still on offer at 10-1 and could provide some good each-way value. Silver Fountain is at 9-2.
Best bet on the card looks to be Alan Greeff-trained Paris Opera in Race 2 a Maiden Plate over 1000m. She drifted in the betting on debut but was gallant when beaten 0.50 lengths and can only improve.
