Two Class 3 1100m Handicaps on the Polytrack head up the 12-race fixture at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore on Saturday.
Champion trainer contender Tim Fitzsimmons will be hoping impressive last-start winner Dancing Light can land a double in the Division 2 of the Class 3 1100m Polytrack sprints in Race 5.
Dancing Light has shown above-average ability with three wins from six starts and comes off the back of an impressive first-up win four weeks ago. In a slowly run race that day, the son of Street Boss settled fourth in running and unleashed a blistering turn of foot in the straight, drawing away to score by two lengths over 1000m while clocking the fastest final 400m in 21.73 seconds.
Dancing Light has trialled well since to maintain his form and standing out as the best horse going forward, he can continue his winning ways despite rising to Class 3 for the first time this week.
Also in the hunt for 2022 champion trainer, Donna Logan’s three-year-old January is ideally placed to shed his maiden when he contests the $20,000 Open Maiden race over 1400m.
January was well prepared with two trials prior to his debut 14 days ago and he outperformed market expectation that day.
Despite racing greenly and travelling wide, the son of Swiss Ace closed off strongly with the second fastest final 400m sectional time in the event, checking home 3.25 lengths into third in the Restricted Maiden race over 1200m.
January looks ideally weighted in this week’s field, where two main dangers Raffie and Dream Alliance both have to give him 6.5kg under the weight-for-age conditions, therefore he can prove hard to beat with only 51kg on his back. - iRACE magazine

SINGAPORE RACE ANALYSIS – 8 Oct 22
RACE 1
1st Pick: SESON (4)
Gets back to the Polytrack after being well supported in betting last start on the turf. Nunes stays aboard and this looks his suited track and distance.
2nd Pick: BASILISK (1)
Second run at class 5 this preparation where he failed to fire a shot last start. Beasley booked to ride, and he is really one to watch here.
3rd Pick: SALAMENCE (3)
His lone start in this class resulted in a minor placing three starts ago. This is more his go and with Krisna in the saddle he can make use of a handy barrier in three. Watch the market.
4th Pick: FIRST CHIEF (5)
His best career stats have come at this course and distance including four wins and six minor placings. Simon Kok knows him well and should be a top four player.
RACE 2
1st Pick: GOLDEN BROWN (3)
Looks one of the better bets on the program. Aided by a small field and Nunes taking the reins after they combined to a nice trial victory last week.
2nd Pick: PETROGRAD (5)
Two minor placings from his two career starts looks sharp form for this race. Duric should press forward from a wide draw and look a big danger when turning for the judge.
3rd Pick: DARK SHOW (1)
Having his first start the son of Shamexpress for the strong Logan stable. Looked sharp in the same trial Golden Brown won and will be amongst the money in the finish.
4th Pick: FLYING NEMO (2)
First starter by Vespa and trained by Desmond Koh. Draws very handy in two and should be nice and positive judging by what we have seen in his trials. Watch for any market support.
RACE 3
1st Pick: EIGHT BALL (5)
Boasts a solid 1100m record and returns to the distance following a strong last start performance. Blinkers back on also which have aided him in the past over sprint distances.
2nd Pick: HAPPY MOMENT (2)
Out of form but returns to pet distance with a nice claim from the rider and a good gate. One to watch for late market moves as he could be a solid each way contender here.
3rd Pick: ROCKETSHIP (3)
1000m would have been more ideal for this speedy mare however, she looks to get a nice chance to lead and control the race from the front. He performances will depend on whether she is pestered on speed or not, that looks the main concern.
4th Pick: HEADHUNTER (1)
Also a horse who appreciates 1000m a little more than 1100m but on recent form, he could sneak into the minor placings with some luck in running.
RACE 4
1st Pick: DREAM ALLIANCE (4)
Looks to be an improving type after two career runs in Singapore. Has trialed nicely for this and Nunes in the saddle a key booking.
2nd Pick: JANUARY (12)
Second up this weekend from our leading stable. Naturally should improve from that first start where he ticked plenty of boxes. Draws perfectly for Yusoff to have a comfortable run-in transit.
3rd Pick: RAFFIE (8)
Duric has been booked to ride this Argentinian bred gelding. He has two minor placings to his name and has the race experience that should be an asset.
4th Pick: KING'S GAMBIT (9)
Should be nice and positive from barrier two. Beuzelin booked to ride again after the pair finished fifth beaten just under two lengths on debut. Should improve.
RACE 5
1st Pick: DANCING LIGHT (6)
Strong winner in class 4 first up. Jumps to class 3 here but it is a division two race and he looks a horse who can measure up in the grade.
2nd Pick: WATCH OUT BOSS (2)
3rd up here for the campaign and gains the services of Danny Beasley in what looks to be the easiest field it’s contest so far this year. Should be peaking for this run.
3rd Pick: LEGEND OF THE SUN (1)
Last start track and distance, he was a strong winner. Iskander provides weight relief once again and looks to be a threat to the main hopes.
4th Pick: FROM THE NAVY (8)
A race on the turf would have been better for this son of Hinchinbrook, but from the inside gate, he should be up on speed for a fair chunk of the race. Keep safe in exotics.
RACE 6
1st Pick: POROSHIRI (2)
Gets his old mate Manoel Nunes back in the saddle who was able to sort him out and get a few wins earlier in the year in this class. Should roll forward and look a big threat.
2nd Pick: FOOTSTEPSONTHECAR (4)
Consistent mare who races well around these distances. Finds her way back to a very winnable race. Stable in form and has CC Wong in the saddle.
3rd Pick: MAXIMILIAN (5)
Nice tough win last start and gets a senior rider in the steering seat. With a small field he should be hitting the line strongly and winning form is good form.
4th Pick: FORESTO (6)
Very rarely wins this guy but brings some nice form after an eye catching second. Low rated but so is this field on a handicap scale.
RACE 7
1st Pick: ISTATABA (1)
She has been very classy in her two most recent wins and looks to be in a great head space. Has to be considered the horse to beat here despite the last for 2000m form. Lets see if she can rise to the occasion.
2nd Pick: SPLIT SECOND (5)
The wetter the better for him so hopefully the rain continues this week. A recent class 4 winner at the track and distance, must be given a hope.
3rd Pick: TONY'S LOVE (7)
On the quick back up after a track and distance win last week in class five. If he can overcome the six day turn around, his win was strong enough to the eye to be running top three here with no weight.
4th Pick: STAR JACK (4)
Loves the distance, class 4 proven so far this year, consistent and from the right stable. A must include for trios and quartets.
RACE 8
1st Pick: HYDE PARK (1)
Draws nicely in four for Lerner. Four of his eight career wins have come at this track and distance. Proven class five performer and a strong second placing last start.
2nd Pick: PINDUS (5)
Should have a nice forward showing off an inside draw. With plenty of speed in this race the inside run should be a nice advantage for him and our leading apprentice booked to ride.
3rd Pick: LIM'S DENALI (2)
Lightly raced mare who is one of the higher rated gallopers in this field. With Beasley booked she looks a legitimate exotics contender.
4th Pick: ALWAYS INNOCENT (6)
Three of his four wins have come at this distance. He doesn’t win all that often but does have a victory in this grade earlier in his career.
RACE 9
1st Pick: LUXURY BRAND (5)
Nearly broke 70 seconds over 1200m last start to break through for his first career win. Carries 3kg less this start against proven company but on times, a repeat performance would see him in the finish once again.
2nd Pick: COIN TOSS (6)
Strong win charging home from off the speed late in the race. Look a nice horse on the rise and should get a rolling tempo to suit again this weekend.
3rd Pick: FADABOY (3)
Blinkers go on for the first time in his return to grass which should only assist him to find his best form. Look s a top three player for sure.
4th Pick: KICK (2)
Steps out for first start on grass in Singapore. Wasn’t disgraced in his debut on poly and has since returned to the trials and won in okay time, respect.
RACE 10
1st Pick: ENGINE START (3)
He has been the centre of news over his last few starts for many reasons. Key highlight is the booking of Nunes and this looks an ideal race.
2nd Pick: MAGNIFICENT GOLD (1)
Has to carry the high weight of 59kgs for Duric due to his handicap. Likes to roll forward and good statistics in this class will see him well in the market.
3rd Pick: TIGAROUS (2)
Seems well placed in this event from barrier three. Didn’t fire a shot last start and I would be going off that run two starts ago when placing second.
4th Pick: CLERGYMAN (4)
A former winner over the mile on the turf earlier in his career. Wasn’t beaten too far behind Khao Manee last start and can improve here.
RACE 11
1st Pick: DARC BOUNTY (1)
Was absolutely steaming home late up the inside to just miss last start. Is aided by a four kilogram claim thanks to App R.Fahmi and should be somewhere in the finish.
2nd Pick: LORD JUSTICE (9)
The claim sees Lord Justice head into this class 3 event with no weight as he hunts for four straight victories across three classes. This is his toughest task yet but he is yet to put a foot wrong this year with two dominant victories to his name.
3rd Pick: QUARTER BACK (3)
Trialed earlier this week in preparation for this run. Another horse in this race that is aided by a claim and has recent form strong enough to be winning this.
4th Pick: SONGGONG HERA (4)
Trackwork during the week has been solid. Frustrating horse to follow but he should be winning a race before the year is out, top three player.
RACE 12
1st Pick: HURRICANE (9)
Dominant maiden display last start to lead all the way in good time. Drops in weight, look for him on speed once again.
2nd Pick: GREATHAM GIRL (2)
Plenty of speed in this race should see it set up for this mare. Look for her to be flashing down the outside late as she notoriously loves to do.
3rd Pick: FLAK JACKET (5)
Racing so well despite his old age this son of Dane Shadow and at this track, grade and distance, he’s always a place hope.
4th Pick: YES ONE BALL (6)
1000m would be more ideal for this horse but draws barrier 1 which should aid his chance of getting to the lead. When on speed, he improves out of sight so hopefully he can utilise the gate and be there in the finish.
