There is no getting away from the fact that Tuesday’s card at Hollywoodbets Durbanville will test bettors.
Most of the races look highly competitive and the fields are decent sizes but fortunately none of them is monstrously large. Most of them are around 10 runners and at a course where all races take place around the turn and draws can play a vital part in the outcome it does help that every runner does have some sort of chance.
However, there are a couple of runners who while may not be going to Hollywood, have been well placed by their trainers.
One of those is Etoilefillante who lines up in Race 5, an Open Maiden over 1600m.
Justin Snaith’s charge has only run four times and in his first three, all as a juvenile at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, he found no betting support and traded at between 20-1 and 33-1. He was then gelded in late July and made his reappearance at the country course on 10 October over 1400m. He had to be showing something at home because he did find betting support, shortening from 6-1 to 4-1, and finished a two-length second behind stable companion Master Of Paris, who ironically went off at 66-1.
The Duke Of Marmalade gelding needed that last run and should be a lot sharper this time. He is also likely to benefit from the additional 200m and from a better No 4 draw this time.
With Grant van Niekerk in the irons again, Etoilefillante looks to be a banker in all bets.
Pineapplegreenmint is improving with each run and is knocking on the door of late with two recent runner-up finishes.
The Gimmethegreenlight three-year-old filly has been doing her best work late over the 1250m and goes a bit further to 1400 in Race 3.
Jockey Aldo Domeyer lost out on some winners earlier this month when having to be booked off for some of his rides so he will be keen to get her home first.
