Enola Grey poised to become Wolverhampton Wonder

January 2026

Enola Grey can make it a Wolverhampton double in the Always Gamble Responsibly At BetMGM Fillies' Handicap on Monday.

Gemma Tutty's charge secured victory at the venue on her latest start, prevailing over 1400m by a cosy 2 lengths in what seems to be her peak time of the year.

Four of her seven wins have come in December but she has previously rolled her good form into the early weeks of January, so now might be the time to support her.

Stepping back up to an extended 1600m should prove no issue as she bounded away in the final 200m before Christmas and while she has been raised 6lb to a mark of 79, Enola Grey has won off that perch in the past.

Alba Gu Brath can spearhead a double for Charlie Johnston in the Win £250,000 With BetMGM's Golden Goals Restricted Novice Stakes.

Related to three winners, including at Listed level, Alba Gu Brath has had to settle for second on each of his two starts to date, beaten 1.5-lengths at the first attempt and then by 8 lengths on the second occasion.

That second run was disappointing as an odds-on favourite but he was turning out just 10 days after his initial outing and might be better for a longer break between starts.

New Bay Star can make it two for the Middleham team in the following Always Gamble Responsibly At BetMGM Novice Stakes.

He showed a glimpse of ability in three appearances before a gelding operation but posted his best effort to date on his return from that last month.

New Bay Star went down by 1.25-lengths then after setting out to make all and a similar performance could be good enough here.

Colors Of Freedom has been knocking on the door in her last two starts but her moment can come in the Join The Midnite Movement Handicap.

The six-year-old has not actually hit the mark since June last year, when she triumphed over the same 1000m she faces here but off a 1lb lower mark.

Eleven runs since then have yielded six placed efforts, most recently finishing second the course and distance just three days ago in a classified event.

Her mark of 48 looks competitive and she clearly thrives at Wolverhampton, where she is a three-time winner. - Press Association
