Distance to benefit Mocha Blend

Mocha Blend stands out in her race, Captain Oliver also has much in his favour.

There are two runners who could be hard to beat, even if their latest form lines are not well proven.

Mocha Blend and Captain Oliver not only have the best of the draws, but both have scope for big improvement in their respective heats at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.

Frank Robinson-trained Mocha Blend lines up in Race 3, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1950m, and is by Ideal World whose progeny usually blossom when tried over ground. After a fair debut when beaten only 1.55 lengths over 1400m she looks to have much to come over 1950m this time.

She stayed on strongly in that race and the turf should suit, but the form line has not been particularly strong.

Still, runner-up Fate Decreed won not long after. The latter had plenty experience and was only 0.50 lengths ahead of Mocha Blend. In terms of the field she now meets, Mocha Blend could be well ahead of them. She also jumps from gate No 1 and strong rider Sean Veale may have an armchair ride.

Captain Oliver is still learning what it is all about despite an 1800m maiden win where he did enough but could also have things his own way in Race 4, a MR 76 Handicap over 2400m. He has also landed pole position in his race but the big question with him if he is ready to see out the distance at this time of the year, still being a young horse who has not fully matured.

He is by Potala Palace who has had some nice winners over shorter this season, but the stamina is likely to come from his female line. He is out of Fort Wood mare Mild Smoke and stayed on to win his maiden.

The Frikkie Greyling-trained runner has been given the go ahead to run in a handicap and he could confirm the belief his connections have in him and perhaps he will go on to contest stronger races.
