Gavin Smith had a rare blank day at Fairview last week and that enabled Alan Greeff to close the gap with two winners on the day.
Of course, the other trainer in top form is Zietsman Oosthuizen who came away with a double a fortnight back and again last Friday where he had two winners and two seconds.
But Greeff looks to hold a decent hand with Double Destiny in Race 6 on Friday, a Novice Plate over 1600m for fillies and mares on turf.
Only one win in 11 starts suggests Double Destiny is not an easy horse with which to win but she does have the best form in the book and looks to be course-and-distance suited.
The Twice Over filly was an easy winner on debut and chased home useful Ekoria second time out.
A fourth-place finish in a mixed sex race behind Port Louis gave her an early mark of around 95.
Double Destiny has struggled to confirm that high mark in her recent runs and has dropped to her current merit rating of 87.
That is the highest in the race and she is well in under the race conditions. Richard Fourie was carded to ride her but he will not be coming to Port Elizabeth on Friday due to family commitments and Aldo Domeyer has picked up the majority of his rides.
Stable companion Hazy Crazy Night and Kelly Mitchley-trained Lady Writer could be the biggest threats.
Lady Writer made an impressive winning debut over 2000m in Port Elizabeth last time when fitted with blinkers and could be quite a better than her merit rating might suggest. However, the drop to 1600m might not suit.
Hazy Crazy Night has always looked likely to improve when trying longer distances and she won a nice maiden race in her penultimate start.
