Cool Legend ready to strike at Ripon

August 2024

Cool Legend should put his higher-level experience to good use when lining up in the ripon-races.co.uk Book Now For Saturday 17th August Handicap on Sunday.

The William Haggas-trained three-year-old has produced valiant efforts in defeat this season, which started with a fifth in a Class Three at York in May before finishing sixth of 12 runners in the Class Two Lester Piggott Handicap at Epsom in June.

His best showing came at Goodwood when 0.75-lengths behind Belcamo, while the son of Sea The Stars was fourth when going off as favourite at Newbury last month.

His last two starts have been in Class Four contests and with Tom Marquand in the saddle, they should be in contention to secure Cool Legend's first victory of the campaign.

Degale will be oozing with confidence after outrunning his huge odds last time out at Thirsk.

The David and Nicola Barron bay was a 300-1 outsider last week, but he was only 1.75-lengths behind Barefoot Warrior to secure minor honours in third.

Callum Rodriguez is aboard the three-year-old as they tackle the 1600m in the GBR Ownership Day Monday 26th August Novice Stakes at Ripon.

We Dare To Dream's form looks solid for David O'Meara in the Karl Budge 60th Birthday EBF Novice Stakes.

The son of Dark Angel made a promising debut when finishing 1-length behind King's Call in second at Ayr last month and Kevin Ryan's winner was then an honourable sixth of 15 runners in the Group Three Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood next time out.

Should the two-year-old replicate a similar performance to his first start, We Dare To Dream will be challenging for top honours.

At Leicester, Sir Michael Stoute has an interesting newcomer in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Stakes.

Nightwalker is a son of Frankel out of Oasis Dream mare Sleep Walk, who has already produced a dual Grade One winner in America in Whitebeam, so he packs plenty of pedigree when he makes his debut in the 1400m contest.

The grey colt is bred to go further, but should have the speed to cope on his maiden appearance for a top-quality trainer.

High Violet will be targeting successive victories at the Oadby track when lining up in the Leicester Racecourse Ideal Self-Hire Wedding Venue Handicap.

David Loughnane's three-year-old won by 1.75-lengths last time out over course and distance last month to shed her maiden tag.

Tom Eaves was the jockey that day and is back on board, and despite a 6lb rise, the filly should be buoyed by her winning run. - Press Association
