Consistent Kennedy should have the edge

Kennedy has been in top form of late and in her last four has notched up three wins and a 0.60-length second behind Le Premiere after having beaten her a race earlier.

This daughter of William Longsword has been sparingly raced and only a few months from turning five years old, has had just nine career runs. Trainer Andre Nel clearly knows how to best handle her and she has come to form in no uncertain manner.

The interesting thing about Kennedy is she does not win by large margins which, while it might make her supporters sweat, it does mean the handicappers tend to treat her reasonably lightly. That means she still could have something in reserve on her current rating of 79 and that could make her hard to beat on Wednesday when she lines up in Race 3, a MR 83 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1000m on the Polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

She has shown she handles the surface with a win and a second in her two visit but she has proven at her best over the distance with four wins, a second and a third from seven starts.

She is drawn slightly wide at No 7, but she has excellent gate speed and that should not prove an issue for jockey Serino Moodley.

On a tough card, Kennedy could be the banker of the day.
