Comanche Magic just the ticket at Stratford

March 2026

Comanche Magic can take a starring role on Festival eve with victory in the DragonBet The Roar Before Cheltenham Infernoboosts Handicap Hurdle at Stratford on Monday.

Trainer Stuart Edmunds has seen a couple of his Cheltenham hopes go by the bye but this six-year-old is primed to provide a measure of compensation having hacked up at Catterick last month.

Having just his third start for the handler having previously been trained in Ireland, Comanche Magic showed glimpses of ability in an initial two runs before coming good in style with a 9.5-length success at the Yorkshire venue.

Comanche Magic made all and ran out a very comfortable victor, which raises hopes of him defying an 8lb rise to chalk up a second British win, with 3200m on soft ground seemingly his optimum trip.

Ferret Jeeter can repeat his course and distance success of last month in the DragonBet The Roar Before Cheltenham Infernoboost Handicap Hurdle at Plumpton.

Anthony Honeyball's charge thrives for a real test of stamina, with two of his three wins so far coming at 4800m or further.

It was over this 5000m distance he struck last time, powering home by 4.25-lengths with a wind operation last summer appearing to have had the desired effect.

Ferret Jeeter was raised 6lb for that triumph but is still on a mark of just 98, which firmly leaves the door open for further improvement from a lightly-raced nine-year-old.

Wicked Thoughts should get the Paul Nicholls team off to a winning start in Festival week in the DragonBet The Roar Before Cheltenham Dragonboosts Handicap Chase at Taunton.

He was useful over hurdles and his two chase starts to date have produced a win over this 4600m course back in November and a disappointing last of four last time out at Exeter.

Wicked Thoughts raced in snatches and given his best efforts have come when racing prominently, expect him to be towards the fore if he is on a going day.

Church Wedding is one to follow in Wolverhampton's Daily Profit Boosts At betmgm.co.uk Fillies' Novice Stakes.

Beautifully bred as a daughter of St Mark's Basilica out of a dual Listed winner in Isabel De Urbina, Church Wedding posted a promising start when third at Kempton in January, beaten just 2 lengths.

The 1600m trip that day is perhaps a touch on the short side and having raced a little further back than ideal, the evens favourite just could not make her mark at the business end.

Ralph Beckett edges her up to just short of 2000m and the extra distance appeals as a real plus. - Press Association
