Coco looks tasty for Chepstow backers

March 2024

Coco Mademoiselle was pulled up in a competitive handicap at Ascot last time but can hopefully get back on track in the Capital Windscreens Supports Breast Cancer Charity Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Chepstow on Sunday.

Dan Skelton's charge had previously been going along nicely, landing a Wetherby bumper and a Lingfield maiden over timber, as well as finishing second at Stratford and Huntingdon.

She has been a hot favourite on several occasions and connections clearly hold this £100,000 purchase in high regard, so keep the faith for now - especially after such a successful Cheltenham Festival for the yard.

Haiti Couleurs was thrown in at the deep end in an Albert Bartlett trial at Haydock last month and duly struggled, but wisely has his sights lowered again in the Capital Windscreens Supports Prostate Cancer Charity Maiden Hurdle.

The Rebecca Curtis-trained seven-year-old had earlier performed with credit when second at this venue and Ludlow, each time showing he can handle testing conditions.

Endless Escape has been knocking on the door of late and looks worth sticking with in the Capital Windscreens Supports Muscular Dystrophy Charity Mares' Handicap at Chepstow.

Ben Clarke's eight-year-old began the season on a tough mark after rattling off four straight wins in novice company last term, before tilting at windmills in Grade Two company at the Cheltenham Festival.

A couple of moderate efforts to kick off the current campaign convinced the handicapper to cut her some slack and a drop from 126 to 120 was obviously a very welcome boost.

The form of Endless Escape's second behind Marsh Wren at Uttoxeter was franked when that winner scored again next time out and she may have caught a tartar when runner-up to the unexposed Tilly Toughnut at Exeter.

This daughter of Getaway has already proven she is a good weight carrier and shouldering 12st may not stop her from getting off the mark for the season.

So Said I got her act together over fences when winning by a wide margin at Lingfield, albeit aided by the fall of favourite Lazy Sunday at the third-last when still going well.

Even so, that was an encouraging effort from Joe Tizzard's mare, who was a three-time hurdles scorer and appeals in the Capital Windscreens Novices' Limited Handicap Chase.

Mulinas looks one to note in the Terry's Birthday Open Maiden National Hunt Flat Race for Paul Nicholls and ambitious amateur rider David Maxwell.

This well-bred five-year-old was bought for £170,000 after winning what looked a competitive Irish point-to-point in fine fashion.

At Huntingdon, Roccovango can secure a deserved first success in the Read Henry Brooke On Blog.Rhino.Bet Maiden Hurdle.

After showing some promise with Martin Lynch in Ireland, where he was placed on several occasions, the eight-year-old went down by just a neck when second to well-backed favourite Nordic Tiger on his debut for Olly Murphy here.

Murphy and title-chasing jockey Sean Bowen also team up with Minella Double, who makes his debut over fences in the Daily Football Offers At Rhino.Bet Novices' Handicap Chase.

The six-year-old looked a very promising sort when landing a Hexham maiden hurdle first time out this season but then disappointed at Aintree and Ffos Las.

He has been given a three-month break to recover from those setbacks, though, and begins his new career over bigger obstacles on a reasonable mark.

Hailing from the same family as high-class chaser Death Duty, it would be no surprise to see Minella Double shine in this sphere.

Wise Guy kept on well under pressure to prevail in tough conditions at Lingfield last month and can follow up in the Discover Whats Trending At Rhino.Bet Handicap Hurdle. - Press Association
