Change to Greyville turf should do it for Lady Yusra
November 2021
Lady Yusra has been expensive to follow but hopefully the move to turf from the Polytrack will do the trick for Dean Kannemeyer’s charge at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday.
Lady Yusra has finished runner-up in her last three starts, beaten less than a length in each race.
She lines up in Race 3, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1400m, and Kannemeyer could not have found a better field for this daughter of Silvano as there is little among the opposition to really trouble her.
As usual, Keagan de Melo takes the ride.
There was a lot to like about the way Magic In Motion won on debut and this well-bred filly could follow up when she runs in Race 6, a MR 79 Handicap for filles and mares over 1400m. Wayne Badenhorst and Barbara Kennedy-trained filly does take a jump in class but should be up to the task.
The three-year-old daughter of Var was dropped in the deep-end first time out, going 1400m around the turn against an experienced bunch. But she produced giant strides, coming from near last to win going away.
Her dam, Magic Smoke, won 10 races, including a Grade 2 event and Magic In Motion certainly doesn’t look like stopping at a maiden win.
