Botes’ charge for Beach Beauty Mile

October 2024

Jack Milner

The scratching of Spirit Of Levana from the Non-Black-Type Beach Beauty Mile for three-year-old fillies at Hollywoodbets on Sunday has paved the way for Barend Botes-trained Care Forgot to notch up a victory.

Botes some very talented three-year-olds in his yard, none more so than unbeaten Quid Pro Quo named Equus Champion Two-Year-Old Filly last season and Care Forgot also looks quite promising.

She asserted her authority in an open handicap last time and while not nearly in the same league as Quid Pro Quo, she is getting better with each start and could turn into a decent sort in time.

Rachel Venniker gets the ride but cannot claim her 1.5kg allowance as this is a feature race

Mike de Kock-trained debut winner, Destiny Of Fire, is a Master Of My Fate filly and looks a nice sort in the making. She is bred for at least 1600m and could be even better over the longer trip after winning by a neck.

She came from a long way back at Hollywoodbets Scottsville to win impressively and the form has been franked after eighth-placed filly, Duncan Howells-trained West Side Story, came out to win her next start.

Sereno Moodley rode her on debut and he is back in the irons once again.

Dean Kannemeyer is in top form at the moment and Prom Queen has been contesting some feature races. Although she has not placed in any of them, she ran well enough to be considered a contender in a race of this nature.

Craig Zackey takes the ride.

The Ghost won her last start well and is probably quite unexposed so she could make up the Quartet.
