Blinkers to work for Peter

Our key role as tipsters is to provide punters with winning bets but if we can also expand a person’s knowledge at the same time, it’s an added benefit.

Some horses have names that mystify punters and that is probably the case with Graphene Aerogel, who runs in Race 2 at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1600m on the Polytrack.

This three-year-old daughter of Jackson has run four times and has been the runner-up in her last three races. In her last two races, over 1900m on the poly and 1750m on the Scottsville turf respectively, she has been right up there and tired late.

In third-last start, which was over this course and distance, she was touched off by Amble Inn.  

Trainer Paul Peter will be running her in blinkers this time and the return to 1600m could also work in her favour. Jockey Warren Kennedy will have the benefit of jumping from No 2 draw and Graphene Aerogel looks the standout bet on the card.

So, what is graphene aerogel? It is a substance considered to be the least dense solid in existence, so much so, that they are light enough to be balanced on small plants.

Muzi Yeni and trainer Paul Matchett have done well this season in KwaZulu-Natal and they could strike with Top Sail in Race 1, a Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1200m.

There are some unraced runners in the line-up and of those who have raced, nothing obvious stands out. But this Master Of My Fate gelding wasn’t far off useful Taikonaut and subsequent Without Equal in his penultimate start and that form could prove very strong. He jumps from No 3 draw.
