Jack Milner: Bettors will have to decide how they should approach Monday’s card on the Polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
To say this is not an easy card is the understatement of a year that is just over three days old. So, when it comes to playing the Pick 6 and Jackpots, one can either put a few horses in each race or can take a chance, find a couple of bankers and load the other legs.
The latter might be the better way to go, despite the fact this eight-race card is made up of two Maiden Plates and six low-level handicaps.
The pair that stand out as possible bankers are It May Be Love in Race 3 and Global Ash in Race 7.
Race 3 is one of the two Maiden Plates and is for fillies and mares over 1200m. It Must Be Love, trained by Gareth van Zyl, has raced four times and has placed on all four occasions.
Her best two efforts, though, have come on the Polytrack. On debut she was beaten just 0.40 lengths by Karin B over 1100m, and in her third run, which was over this course and distance, she went down just 0.40 lengths to Umzinduzi. Two winners have come from that last form line.
Ant Mgudlwa has ridden her in all of her starts and is back in the irons.
Global Ash contests a MR 71 Handicap and in his third race in KZN, looks set to provide trainer Carl Hewitson with a win. The Global View gelding has run three times for a win and two places and looks to have the most room for improvement in the field.
He is a strong front runner and could give Keagan de Melo a triumphant ride.
