For the first time TAB bets can be taken on any one of the 40 carded runners in this Saturday’s Randox Grand National at Aintree, the greatest steeplechase in the world.
Normally if more than 37 horses are carded, all runners numbered 38 and higher are bracketed as Number 37 and TAB operates South African pools on the race. This will not be the case in Saturday’s 6907m Grand National. No horses will be bracketed and in all bets each horse from Nos 1 to 40 must be treated as an individual runner.
In any bet that includes a horse numbered 31 or higher, call the bet to a teller. The TAB betting form shows only numbers one to 30 and cannot be used. All Win, Place, Exacta and Swinger bets on the Grand National will be commingled with the UK tote with South African Trifecta and Quartet pools.
