Best bets early on at Greyville

Punters have a tough meeting in store for them at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday when they race on the Polytrack, and they will need to find a winner early in the day.

And although Guest Getorixx is lowly rated and possibly only modest she could prove best in the opening race, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1000m.

Clean Slate’s first run back showed plenty of promise as the three-year-old son of Time Thief was only caught close home over 1400m on the Polytrack by Red Mahogany, going down just 0.40 lengths.

It is always a tough task to beat the handicappers’ penalties so one must give Michael Roberts-trained Patronage a lot of credit.

Four wins in his last six starts, all over the course and distance of Race 5, a MR 80 Handicap over 1400m, and with Rachel Venniker up, indicates you leave him out of your perms at your peril.
