Majestic Beauty can maintain her unbeaten record in the Highclere Thoroughbred Racing St Hugh’s Stakes at Newbury.
Trained by Alice Haynes, this daughter of Havana Grey has victories at Catterick and Musselburgh to her credit so far and while this Listed heat represents a leap in quality, she can rise to the challenge.
Both the second and third from her opening Catterick success have gone on to strike gold themselves, although her Musselburgh novice form is perhaps not quite as strong with only one other previous winner in the line up.
There was much to like about the way Majestic Beauty battled back that day to pip Cover Point by a head – especially returning from an 88-day break – with that pair pulling over five lengths clear of the third to mark them as a cut above.
This appears a typically competitive contest, but Majestic Beauty should step forward again from her latest win.
Invincible Tiger won a shade cosily last time out and her opening mark of 75 looks workable in the TPT Fire Nursery Handicap.
After falling short in her first two starts, she edged victory in a Bath novice event by a short head when just doing enough and both the second and sixth have subsequently franked the form.
Urban Decay can defy a penalty in the At The Races App Form Study Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Wolverhampton.
Michael Bell’s charge had to settle for second on her introduction at Kempton but she stepped up on that to claim victory next time out in a novice heat at Southwell.
While she only prevailed by a neck, the form looks decent with the second having notched up a string of places subsequently while the third is now a dual winner along with the seventh-placed runner.
A daughter of Frankel out of dual Listed winning sprinter Main Desire, this filly is bred to make waves.
Oddyssey can finally break his maiden in the Elite Universal British EBF Maiden Stakes at Newmarket.
Trained by Patrick Owens, there were scenes of jubilation among his connections at Royal Ascot when he massively outran his 125-1 odds to be beaten less than a length by Snellen in the Chesham.
He proved that was no fluke next time out as while Superlative Stakes winner City Of Troy was in a league of his own, Owens’ stable star finished third again, beating some well regarded types.
He could have been found an easier opportunity, as he is taking on a Godolphin newcomer in Kingdom Of Time who cost 800,000 guineas, but it is usually best sticking with form in the book.
The closing LB Group Handicap can go to Charlie Johnston’s Finn’s Charm.
His yard have always taken advantage at this time of year of the weight three-year-olds get off their elders in handicaps and Joe Fanning rides the July course exceptionally well.
His last two races have come in exceptionally competitive handicaps at Royal Ascot and Goodwood and needless to say this looks a good deal easier.
Prior to Royal Ascot he was second in the German 2000 Guineas, no less.
At Thirsk Richard Fahey’s Sailthisshipalone looks the one to beat in the first division of the Geoff Cooper Birthday Celebration EBF Novice Stakes.
