Be a Yes Man at Selengor

November 2024

Selangor racing continues on Sunday featuring a thrilling nine-race card with highly competitive action expected throughout the day.

For the first time in his promising career, three-year-old Yes Man will make his Class 4 debut, with a strong chance to double his win tally in the 1300m contest at Kuala Lumpur.

Yes Man has shown impressive progress, with one win and two seconds from three starts since his narrow debut defeat on September 22. He broke his maiden in style on 13 October, leading throughout to defeat subsequent winner Rocky Pegasus by 2.25 lengths.

Most recently, Yes Man lost no admirers in the 1300m TCB Gamefi Club Trophy here three weeks ago, where he was overhauled late by the talented Duma after setting the pace. With his early speed, the Simon Dunderdale-trained gelding should again be prominent and prove tough to beat in this step up to Class 4.

Former Macau galloper Oriental Halflamma piques plenty of interest on his local debut in Race 6. He had been on a winning streak of four before it ended in a high division Handicap race in his final start in the former Portuguese colony.

However, he was beaten by just 2.25 lengths that day—the form that appears much stronger than the Class 4 field he will face this week.

With the recent influx of Macau gallopers into Malaysia, Wealthyness appears to have an edge over his Class 5 rivals in the final event of the card. As a six-time winner in Macau, he generally performed well in Class 4 and 5 company.

Resuming off an impressive trial win by four lengths, he looks ready to fire first-up. – iRACE Magazine
