It is well established that trainer Michael Miller has an excellent record of winning with juveniles.

One reason is that it is all about finding precocious young horses at the sales so they mature early and are advanced compared with many of their opposition and can give their owners an early return on their investment.

It is a real art some trainers have to find just the right horses at the sales and Miller can again get bettors speedily out of the starting blocks at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Wednesday when Bitcoin Baby lines up in Race 1, a Maiden Juvenile Plate for fillies over 1000m.

There were no takers on the chances of Bitcoin Baby on debut as this daughter of Japanese-bred sire Danon Platina drifted from 25-1 to 50-1, even though Miller’s comment on her was ‘showing some nice work but could be green’.

She ended up running second, beaten 1.10 lengths by stablemate African Folklore who had the benefit of a run under her belt and went off 5-4 favourite.

Bitcoin Baby did produce the fastest final 400m which augurs well for this run. While Miller does have three other runners in the race, it is worth noting first-choice jockey SerIno Moodley has taken the ride on Bitcoin Baby.

The scratching of Lucky Miss from Race 2 could have paved the way for Reefway to notch up a second win. Dennis Drier’s charge will be having her first run at this track and should enjoy the longer run-in in this MR 84 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1400m..
