Bank on Belliano at Market Rasen

Belliano can make it two wins in three starts under rules in the TrustATrader Apply Today EBF 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle at Market Rasen on Tuesday.

A £255,000 purchase after winning a point-to-point in November 2023, Belliano did not have his first outing for Paul Nicholls until lining up for a Chepstow maiden hurdle in October.

Beaten just under 5 lengths in second, the run reads well as the winner was The New Lion, who went on to win again at Newbury before making the leap to Grade One glory in the Challow Hurdle.

Belliano was sent to another maiden at Ascot just before Christmas for his next effort and duly got off the mark with a relatively cosy 1.5-length victory and while the form is yet to be tested, Nicholls' runner looked sure to improve again for the experience.

Court Cian hacked up at Fakenham on New Year's Day and is worth supporting in the Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Handicap Hurdle.

Having his first try at a real staying trip, Court Cian clearly thrived for a stamina test as he cantered home 16 lengths ahead of Ted's Friend to notch a second win in his last three outings.

The handicapper has hiked him 10 points for that win, but Stuart Edmunds' runner could have more to give now he has found his niche.

Anno Power fought back effectively and emerged a short-head victor, with the second having placed twice more since while the third-placed runner was a subsequent winner.

Off the track since then, Anno Power can emerge refreshed and ready for a big spring campaign.

Midnight Lion's winning run ended when upped in class last time out but a drop back can produce the desired result in the Gamble Responsibly At BetUK Handicap at Newcastle.

Jim Goldie's charge racked up three successive victories over 2000m in December and early January before coming home fourth of nine when switched to class two level.

Goldie pitches him in over 3200m here and while that is a big jump from his recent winning trips, Midnight Lion was successful over 2800m when trained by Charlie Johnston back in 2023, so the distance could certainly be within his scope. - Press Association
