The big yards got off to a flyer but more stables are ready to open their winning account for the new East Cape season.
After two Polytrack meetings, the first Fairview Turf meeting of the season will take place on Friday. Although strong showings can be expected again from the leading stables of Gavin Smith and Alan Greeff, there will be huge challenges from some of the other yards. Trainers Juan Nel, Tara Laing and Lunga Gila will saddle some lively runners and could well find the winners box for the first time this season.
With nine races carded, it is a bit of an early start with the first race off at 11:40. The Bipot starts with the second race at 12:10 where Single File, trained by Kelly Mitchley, is the horse to beat. The Mitchley yard was a bit unlucky at the last meeting and can have a bigger say this time.
The third race at 12:40 gets the Place Accumulator underway and Pick Six players will be getting involved from the fourth race at 13:10. Don’t forget about the two Jackpots, starting in race five and six respectively.
The Greeff yard looks particularly strong throughout the day and might be the right stable to turn to for bankers in your bets. Two huge Greeff runners are Bournemouth (race 6) and Bonnaroo (race 8). Both will be ridden by the dynamic Richard Fourie and must be included in all bets.
