Another chance for See It Again

See It Again is one of the highest rated runners on the Betway Summer Cup log but his preparation for the R6-million Grade 1 race over 2000m at Turffontein on Saturday 29 November hit a stumbling block when he was scratched by the starts of his last start for failing to load.

Many pundits were surprised by the decision as many horses are given far more time to load than the two-time Grade 1 winner was afforded at that meeting, but the Michael Roberts-trained six-year-old will get another opportunity at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Friday when See It Again lines in Race 2, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1600m on the Turf track.

The last time See It Again ran was in the Grade 1 Champions Cup over 1800m at Greyville on 27 July where he finished a really solid 1.60-length third behind Gladatorian and HWB Durban July champion The Real Prince.

There is no doubt See It Again will be a force in the Summer Cup if at his best, so hopefully everything goes well this time.

Rachel Venniker takes the ride and they will jump from gate No 6.

Three other Summer Cup contenders will line up in the race and they are headed up by 2023 champion Royal Victory. He did run in that earlier race over 1400m and finished sixth of the seven runners but beaten just 3.75 lengths. He did produce the fastest final 400m so trainer Nathan Kotzen will be expecting a similar performance from his charge.

The other two Summer Cup entrants are Gold Cup champion King Pelles and On My Honour who ran fourth in the previous Pinnacle Stakes over 1400m.

Both will be having their second outings following a layoff.
