A Hodgepodge of bets at Scottsville

Hodgepodge could be one of the better bets on a competitive nine-race card at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.

This well-bred daughter of Ideal World lines up in Race 6, a Class 4 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1600m where none of the opposition looks to be in the league of the colt that she beat in the maidens, A World Of Our Own, as well as the filly that beat her last time, The Ghost.

The latter carried 3.5kg less than Hodgepodge and at closer weight terms it could be a different result the next time they meet. Hodgepodge is an Ideal World half-sister to Afraad who developed into a useful stayer and the Stuart Ferrie-trained filly could be headed the same way, which is why the more galloping and testing Scottsville track should suit her.

Agrado runs for Garth Puller, whose yard has come to form recently, in Race 5, and Puller will have been enthused with the gelding’s two efforts.

He came from 15 lengths back with a strong finish to finish third on debut over 1000m and then not only did he jump slowly in his second start over 1200m but nearly came down during the race and yet still won with something in hand.

He looks to be on the up and could be anything.
