A bevvy of delight for Greyville bettors

Trainer Peter Muscutt could be in for a good day on the Polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Tuesday.

While he has a number of decent runners on the card the best of those has to be Bevies Delight in Race 2, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1200m.  

The daughter of Vercingetorix has only raced three times and two of those were in Grade 2 races on the turf at Greyville. After finishing a 3.15-length fifth on debut, Muscutt put his charge into the Golden Slipper over 1400m, where she finished a 2.95-length fifth behind Ameena.

She may have gone off at 20-1 that time but in her next start, The Debutante over 1200m, Bevies Delight found betting support to start at 8-1. However, she was drawn widest of all at No 12 and was not able to overcome that hurdle. She did run on late but, she was left with far too much work to do and ended up 6.65 lengths behind Gobsmacked.

This time she is perfectly drawn at No 2 and her merit rating of 89 places her at least 11kg better weighted than the balance of her opposition.

Muscutt also saddles highly rated Formagear in Race 6, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1000m.

He has a similar profile to Bevies Delight as he too has only raced three times, all as a two-year-old, winning on debut followed by two top races in Grade 2 events. As a result, the Querari gelding has a merit rating 103.

He will come up against some talented sprinters in Coin Spinner (MR 103) and Spydas Corner (MR 95) but while they are proven sprinters, Formagear has the most room for improvement and is one of the best weighted runners.
