Jack Milner: The scratching of Rainbow Bridge from Wednesday’s Kenilworth card has taken some of the gloss off the meeting but there is still enough good racing to keep punters entertained.
Eric Sands withdrew his runner, citing urticaria as the reason.
Perhaps the most interesting event is Race 7, a MR 92 Handicap for fillies and mares where the form of the Grade 2 Western Cape Fillies Championship will come under the spotlight.
The race was won by Princess Calla and Zarina, from the Candice Bass-Robinson yard, ran third, beaten 2.75 lengths. However, the fastest 400m to finish was produced by stable companion Fiftyshadesdarker, who was too far back after failing to overcome a wide draw. She ended up another 2.25 lengths behind Zarina.
However, the former was slowly away and Joshwin Solomons was unable to claim his 2.5kg allowance. That should ensure the daughter of Master Of My Fate should still be able to maintain her dominance in this race.
Of the older fillies, there is very little to choose between Secret Depths and Gimme Gimme Gimme but the latter is slightly favoured at the weights.
