Winston looks wonderful at Brighton

August 2023

Young Winston seems to have settled in well at Tony Carroll's yard and gets the nod in the Follow @Attheraces On Twitter 'Confined' Handicap at Brighton on Monday, for horses that have not won this year.

Having switched from John Mackie, the son of Churchill went into many notebooks when runner-up to Galactic Glow over 2000m at Bath after twice being denied a clear passage.

Stepping up to 2400m at this track did not quite work out when he weakened late on into third behind No Diggity but it may be worth keeping the faith now he drops back down in distance.

Once rated as high as 72 following a Ripon success just under two years ago, Young Winston is currently on an eyecatching 49 and is fancied to take full advantage of that mark.

Sir Michael Stoute's Fly Zone looks the one to beat in the At The Races App Market Movers Maiden Stakes. A gelded son of Expert Eye, he was well beaten on his only outing at two but

has shown much better form this year.

Second to Sovereign Stakes dead-heater Embesto, admittedly beaten six lengths, at Yarmouth, he was then third at Chelmsford on his most recent outing.

That was back at the end of May and in true Stoute style he has given him time to overcome that effort as it was not that promising.

Given it was on the all-weather, though, he can be forgiven it and is given another chance.

Zachary begins life handicapping off a very low mark and can open his account in the At The Races App Form Study Nursery Handicap.

After a fairly promising debut for Charlie Johnston where he showed good early speed before fading late on, he has been well beaten the last twice.

However, given he is running off an opening mark of just 51, he has been given every chance.

Tracy Waggott's Lady Of The Garr has shown glimpses of promise in her three runs to date and gets in on an interesting mark in the Like Racing TV On Facebook Nursery Handicap at Catterick.

At the same venue Let Her Loose is difficult to oppose in the Millbry Hill Amateur Jockeys' Handicap. She has been in great form for the husband-and-wife team of Archie Watson and

Brodie Hampson, winning three of her last four.

This might be a little tougher with a penalty but she remains on great terms with herself.

Harappan has made an encouraging start to his racing career and can hopefully make further progress in the Bet At RacingTV.com Restricted Novice Stakes.

The three-year-old changed hands for 150,000 guineas (about R4 million) after a 50-1 third at Newcastle and proved that was no fluke when scoring at odds-on at Wolverhampton on his first start for Iain Jardine.

Sir Tivo has been a fantastic servant for Gary Hanmer with 10 career victories and gets on really well with Sean Bowen, making him the one to be on in the Rachel Jones Memorial Handicap Chase at Bangor. - Press Association
