SIX SUSPENDED

Six players are suspended for this weekend’s resumption of the DStv Premiership, either because of a red card in their last game or an accumulation of cautions - Taahir Goedeman (Cape Town City), Clayton Daniels (Cape Town Spurs), Velemsemi Ndwandwe (Golden Arrows), Samuel Manganyi (Royal AM), Fawaaz Basadien (Stellenbosch) and Ime Okon of SuperSport United.

SALAH SET FOR RETURN

On Tuesday afternoon, Liverpool shared photos of Mohamed Salah with the ball at his feet training with the team. Manager Jurgen Klopp is yet to disclose whether his star striker will be fit for the trip to Brentford tomorrow, but the signs are good.

FROM ABIDJAN TO JOZI

Stellenbosch midfielder Jayden Adams got off the plane from Abidjan on Wednesday after returning home with Bafana from the Africa Cup of Nations finals and went home for the night. He is now back in Gauteng for tonight’s clash against SuperSport United in Polokwane.

SWALLOWS TAKE FLIGHT

Steve Komphela will not be on the bench for Moroka Swallows this weekend, having not returned to work since the dispute between players and the club in December over allegedly unpaid wages. The Birds failed to play their last two games in December and the PSL disciplinary committee ruled that the points be awarded to their opponents. Many players are also gone with Keenan Phillips possibly moving overseas.

GVARDIOL SIDELINED

Manchester City confirmed after Tuesday's win at Copenhagen that Josko Gvardiol will be sidelined for "two or three weeks" with an ankle ligament injury. Jack Grealish was forced off midway through the first half with a muscle problem and Bernardo Silva was injured late, but both are likely to be available tomorrow along with Mateo Kovacic.
